Development of the Week: Wynn Manor
Plenty of room for family plan
For the AJC
Sunday, December 07, 2008
Todd and Jennifer Russell’s home was still on the market when they discovered Wynn Manor. They were so impressed with the development’s model home layout and lot sizes that they decided to put a contract on a home in the Newnan neighborhood with a similar floor plan. Jennifer, 34, a school tech specialist, chatted about their home.

Todd and Jennifer Russell chose their Wynn Manor house for the subdivision’s large yards and their open floor plan.
Getting there
Take I-85 south to Exit 56 and turn right. Travel about 2 miles and turn right on Ga. 29 South. Travel 1 mile and turn left on Tommy Lee Cook Road. Wynn Manor will be 2 miles on right.
Atlanta home development stories
Q. How did it work out for you to buy this house?
A. We saw this house at the beginning of April. We knew that we wanted it. We were actually having a hard time selling our house. It had been on the market for eight months. It was terrible. Jeff Lindsey (the builder) was going to do a trade-in with us, but we sold it at the end of May. We took a loss, but I’m so glad that we were able to get out from under it.
What appealed to you about Wynn Manor?
My husband was really big on having a big, open house. That’s what the floor plan gives us. There’s plenty of space. The lot size was also a big deal. We had looked intown in Newnan, and the lot sizes are a half acre to even below a half acre, and the houses are on top of each other. We wanted to get something that had a little bit of a yard.
Why did you choose Newnan?
He’s an instructor (at Fort Benning, a 90-minute commute one way). We were going to move to the Columbus area. He travels a lot with his job. With him being gone all the time, I don’t have any family or friends in that area. I wanted to be around family and friends.
How did you think of the future in buying the home?
We want to start a family. We really wanted to have a bigger lot for them to be able to actually play in the yard. He also wants a dog. One of my rules for him having a dog was being able to have a yard for me to open the door and [let him] go out and play.
How is your lot positioned?
Our backyard kind of slopes down. Our plans are to put a deck in the back and level it out some. We have a huge side yard that’s got plenty of room for a kids’ play area. We could even do a volleyball court there.
